Daily Market Commentary : 10th March. 2017

Dull End to the Week; IT Stocks lead. The market closed flat ahead of the key results to assembly elections. Investors had reacted positively to the exit polls in the morning session, but trimmed their gains through the day.

NSE Nifty closed at 8934 levels, up by 7 points or 0.08%, while BSE Sensex closed at 28946 levels, up by 17 points or 0.06%.

Asian stock markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The Nikkei 225 gained 1.48% and the Hang Seng rose 0.29%. The Shanghai Composite lost 0.12%. European markets are higher today with shares in France leading the region. The CAC 40 is up 0.49% while Germany’s DAX is up 0.48% and London’s FTSE 100 is up 0.39%.

Bosch Limited was the top Nifty gainer whereas, Tech Mahindra was the top Nifty loser in Friday’s trading session.

The BSE Mid-cap Index closed down 0.3% at 13353 whereas, BSE Small-cap Index closed down 0.2% at 13588.

IT stocks were rallying on bourses, Infosys alone contributing almost 80% to the BSE IT index gains. Infosys closed at Rs 1021 per share up by Rs 9 per share or 0.9%

Alembic Pharma rallied on bourses and gained over 6% on Friday. The stock clos trading at Rs 623 per share up by Rs 21 or 3.6%.

Career Point during Friday’s trade gained over 6% and the stock closed trading at Rs 111 per share up by Rs 0.1 per share or 0.1%.

T D Power Systems closed at Rs 171 per share, up by Rs11 per share or 7%.

Brigade closed at Rs 210 per share, up by Rs 11 per share or nearly 5%.

PVR closed at Rs 1424 per share, up by Rs 76 per share or nearly 5%.

Lycos Internet closed at Rs 9 per share, up by Rs 0.4 per share or 5%.

There were 614 advances, 998 declines and 311 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting bearish undertone floating in the market.

The rupee was trading at 66.60 per US dollar.
