P.P Group, a UK-based materials manufacturer, has purchased ten overhead cranes from Street Cranes to install at its new £6m facility.

The company specialises in providing materials profiling, processing, fabrication and welding services to a wide range of industries in the UK market. It recently invested in a new 110,000 sq ft ‘Profiles Point’ manufacturing facility at Oldham, Greater Manchester.

The ten 10t-capacity single-girder cranes were installed across three bays at the facility, and are being used on a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week basis for loading and unloading vehicles and machines, as well as for the metal fabrication process.

Ian McAllister, group operations director at P.P. Group, said: “In addition to our state-of-the-art profiling machinery, the Street cranes are a vital component of our new factory, enabling us to significantly boost our profiling and processing capabilities.

“All metals we handle are lifted with overhead cranes rather than forklifts to avoid any damage to materials and ensure that our operation is as productive and safe as possible. Having used Street’s cranes before, we knew we could rely on the company to provide highly efficient products which would meet our demands.”

Chris Lindley-Smith, Street Crane’s sales director added: “This is an impressive facility with an intensive production schedule. Overhead cranes are integral to its success, so we’re proud to have been able to provide P.P. Group with our latest pre-engineered cranes to ensure their lifting requirements are carried out as effectively and safely as possible.

“All the cranes supplied are fitted with Street’s renowned ZX wire rope hoists, which are well proven in all types of lifting operations to provide high performance and the best levels of availability with minimal maintenance requirements.”
