Eriacta 100 mg contains Sildenafil citrate and is primarily used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). Like other medications containing Sildenafil, Eriacta 100 mg can interact with certain drugs, potentially causing adverse effects or reducing the effectiveness of either medication. Here are some common drug interactions to be aware of: Nitrates: Eriacta 100 mg should not be taken with nitrates or nitric oxide donors, such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, or isosorbide mononitrate. Combining Eriacta with nitrates can cause a severe drop in blood pressure, leading to dizziness, fainting, or even a heart attack or stroke. Nitrates are commonly used to treat chest pain (angina) and heart conditions. Alpha-Blockers: Medications used to treat high blood pressure or prostate enlargement, known as alpha-blockers (e.g., doxazosin, prazosin, terazosin), can interact with Eriacta 100mg, leading to a sudden drop in blood pressure. This interaction can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. Other Antihypertensive Medications: Some medications used to treat high blood pressure (antihypertensive drugs), such as calcium channel blockers (e.g., amlodipine, diltiazem) or beta-blockers (e.g., metoprolol, propranolol), may interact with Eriacta 100 mg and potentiate the hypotensive effects. Close monitoring is necessary if these medications are used together. Protease Inhibitors: Protease inhibitors, medications used to treat HIV/AIDS (such as ritonavir, saquinavir), can increase the concentration of Sildenafil in the blood, leading to an increased risk of side effects or toxicity. A lower dosage of Eriacta may be necessary when taken with protease inhibitors. Other PDE5 Inhibitors: Concurrent use of Eriacta 100 mg with other phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, such as Tadalafil (Cialis) or Vardenafil (Levitra), is not recommended due to the additive effects on blood pressure and the increased risk of adverse effects. Grapefruit Juice: Grapefruit juice can increase the concentration of Sildenafil in the blood, potentially intensifying its effects and increasing the risk of side effects. It's advisable to avoid consuming grapefruit juice while taking Eriacta 100 mg. Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal supplements, before starting Eriacta 100 mg or any medication containing Sildenafil. Your doctor can help you manage potential drug interactions and ensure the safe and effective use of the medication.
