Lithium phosphate batteries are related to blade batteries in nature, but they are not exactly equivalent. Lithium phosphate batteries, or LFP batteries for short, are a kind of secondary batteries, which use lithium iron phosphate and graphite as the main positive and negative materials, and organic solvents and salts as the electrolyte. This type of battery is characterized by high energy density, long life, better safety performance and environmental protection. The energy density of lithium phosphate battery reaches more than 200Wh/kg, and its service life can reach more than 2,000 times, which can meet the needs of long-term use. A lithium iron phosphate battery is a type of lithium ion battery that uses lithium iron phosphate as the cathode material, while a blade battery is a battery product developed by BYD that utilizes lithium iron phosphate technology and has a different design and structure than the traditional lithium iron phosphate battery.

Lithium iron phosphate batteries are favored by the market due to their good thermal stability, long life and cost-effectiveness. They usually have a high level of safety because the lithium iron phosphate material is more stable at high temperatures and has a lower risk of thermal runaway. In addition, Li-FePO4 batteries have a longer lifespan, can withstand more charge/discharge cycles, and have a relatively low cost, properties that make them very popular in many applications.

Blade Battery
Blade batteries are a new battery technology introduced by BYD, based on lithium iron phosphate battery technology. Blade batteries are designed with long, strip-shaped cells, a design that helps to improve the space utilization of the battery pack, thereby increasing the energy density of the battery. Compared to traditional lithium iron phosphate batteries, blade batteries offer a significant increase in volumetric energy density, which is particularly important for electric vehicles as they can provide longer range.

In terms of their definitions and characteristics, lithium phosphate batteries and blade batteries both use lithium iron phosphate technology, so they have certain similarities. However, the blade battery is not simply a lithium phosphate battery, but through the innovation and optimization of the battery structure, to achieve higher energy density and better performance. In addition, blade batteries have undergone rigorous testing and validation, proving their superiority in terms of safety, strength, range and life. Therefore, although both lithium phosphate and blade batteries utilize lithium iron phosphate technology, there are some differences between them in terms of structure, performance and application.
