Daily Market Commentary : 10th Feb. 2017

Share markets in India continued to trade near the dotted line in the afternoon session as investors remained wary ahead of key industrial production (IIP) economic data for December to be released later today.

Equity benchmarks managed to eke out modest gains amid consolidation on Friday, supported by technology stocks and positive global cues. Investors awaited December industrial output data due later today and corporate earnings.

NSE Nifty closed at 8793.8 levels up by 15.4 points, while BSE Sensex closed at 28334.25 levels, up by 4.55 points or 0.02%..

European markets were higher as investors tracked earnings and looked ahead to the meeting between President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Asian markets closed higher, following a boost in US equities on the back of President Donald Trump saying he would soon announce a “phenomenal” tax plan.

Asian markets finished broadly higher today with shares in Japan leading the region. The Nikkei 225 is up 2.49% while China’s Shanghai Composite is up 0.42% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is up 0.21%. European markets are higher today with shares in London leading the region. The FTSE 100 is up 0.27% while Germany’s DAX is up 0.25% and France’s CAC 40 is up 0.17%.

Nifty IT was the top gainer among the sectoral indices on NSE. The index surged in the closing hours to close at 10372.85 levels, up by 204.95 points or 2.02.

Heavyweight player from IT, TCS closed at Rs 2382.9 per share, up by Rs 65.60 per share or 2.83%. Tech Mahindra closed at Rs 499.85 per share, up by Rs 14.85 per share or 3.06%. Infosys closed at Rs 967 per share, up by Rs 21 per share or 2.22%.

Grasim was the top gainer in the pack of Nifty 50 stocks, closing at Rs 1014.90 per share, up by 4.13%.

Arcotech Limited closed at Rs 737 per share, up by Rs 122.80 per share or 19.99%.

Aegis Logistics closed at Rs 201.95 per share, up by Rs 19.50 per share or 10.69%.

MBL Infrastructure closed at Rs 54.35 per share, up by Rs 4.90 per share or 9.91%.

Oberoi Realty closed at Rs 341 per share, up by Rs 14.75 per share or 4.52%.

There were 734 advances, 906 declines and 273 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting some negative bias floating in the market.

The rupee was trading at 66.87 per US dollar.

Daily Market Commentary : 9th Feb. 2017

Equity benchmarks saw consolidation for third consecutive session Thursday as investors, after pricing in Union Budget and RBI’s neutral policy stance, shifted their focus back to Q3 earnings and global cues. Factory data for the month of December, due Friday evening, will also be closely watched.

NSE Nifty closed at 8778.4 levels, up by 9.35 points, while BSE Sensex closed at 28329.7 levels, up by 39.78 points.

Broader markets have shown some positive bias till afternoon hours but slipped thereafter. However, they recovered in the closing hours. BSE Mid-cap index closed at 13506.61 levels, up by 31.63 points or 0.23%. BSE Small-cap index closed at 13582.89 levels, up by 25.29 points or 0.19%.

Nifty Media index was the star performer of the day. The index touched the high of 3035.40 levels, up by 2.26%. The index closed at 3022.90 levels, up by 1.84%.

Sun TV was the top gainer in the Nifty Media index. The stock closed at Rs 736.5 per share, up by

Rs 31.55 per share or 4.48%. DEN Networks Limited was on the second position, closing at Rs 87.50 per share, up by Rs 3.10 per share or 3.67%.

Bank stocks were seen to be under pressure. 10 stocks from Nifty PSU Bank stocks declined out of a total of 11 stocks. Union Bank closed at Rs 152.95 per share, down by Rs 13.60 per share or 8.17%.

Aptech Ltd., closed at Rs 235.95 per share, up by Rs 39.30 per share or 19.98%.

RPP Infra Projects Ltd., closed at Rs 351.60 per share, up by Rs 58.60 per share or 20%.

Venky’s (India) Ltd., closed at Rs 720.10 per share, up by Rs 120 per share or 20%.

Sun TV closed at Rs 736.50 per share, up by Rs 31.55 per share or 4.48%.

Coffee Day closed at Rs 224 per share, up by Rs 21.25 per share or 10.48%.

JustDial closed at Rs 427.90 per share, up by Rs 23.90 per share or 5.92%.

There were 793 advances, 845 declines and 273 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting mixed feelings floating in the market.

The rupee was trading at 66.84 per US dollar.

Benchmark indices ended rangebound session on a flat note after the RBI maintained status quo and changed policy stance to neutral from accommodative.

NSE Nifty closed in gained 0.75 points at 8769.05, while BSE Sensex was down 45.24 points at 28289.92.

Sensex plunged to a low of 28149.08, down by 186.08 points and closed at 28289.92 levels, down by 45.24 points.

BSE Energy closed up by 0.44%, BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods closed down by 0.54%, BSE Healthcare closed down by 0.34%. BSE IT closed flat, down by 0.04%. BSE Telecom Index closed up by 0.73%.

BSE Consumer Durables was the biggest gainer among the sectoral indices, recording gains of almost 2.63%.

BSE Oil & Gas closed up by 0.85% and BSE Realty closed up by 1.22%.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited closed at Rs 156.80 per share, up by Rs 4.70 per share or 3.09%.

Bharti Infratel Limited closed at Rs 310 per share, up by Rs 8.70 per share or 2.89%.

Titan Company Limited closed at Rs 422.60 per share, up by 7.41%.

LT Foods Limited closed at Rs 60.90 per share, up by Rs 10.15 per share or 20%.

Indiabulls Ventures Limited closed at Rs 28.45 per share, up by Rs 4.70 per share or 19.79%.

Kopran closed in green at Rs 70.40 per share, up by Rs 8.50 or 13.73%

The broader markets outperformed, with the BSE Midcap index rising 0.5 percent. About 1509 shares advanced against 1365 declining shares on the exchange.
